| Volunteers Needed!
Bird Observer is a New England-based bimonthly journal
created by birders for birders. It is a private nonprofit
corporation supported by subscribers and produced entirely by an
all-volunteer staff. If you are interested in being part of the
future of New England's birding journal,
let us
know. Some of the positions we are looking for:
Proof Reader: We're looking for
a skilled proofreader to examine page proofs for errors before we go
to press. The successful candidate will proof copy in pdf format
with the aid of a checklist, and return the annotated copy by email
within 3-4 days. This position requires meticulous attention
to detail, fast turnaround, and scheduling flexibility. The
proofreader works directly with the Production Editor.
Web Cruiser: We're looking for
a web-savvy someone to evaluate birding pages and blogs
and help formulate strategies for Bird Observer's web
presence.
Web
Design: As we grow, we will be doing a complete
redesign of our web site - we're looking for an experienced web
designer to help us to the next step.
Copy Editor: We are looking for
an experienced copy editor.
Promote Bird
Observer: Bring promotional materials to your
bird club meeting, help man the display at the Birders Meeting,
or find new advertisers for the journal. You
choose.
Mailing
Assistant: Every two months we have to stick on
labels to mail the journal; if you live near the Medford area,
volunteer to help out.
Bird
Sightings: One of our most important missions to
to maintain a database of bird sightings. If you have a good
handle on bird distribution throughout the year, help us enter
current data. Or, help us enter data from journals prior to the
current 1994 start date.
Write an
Article: If you
have a special place you like to bird, or have observed some
fascinating bird behavior, write about it, and submit it for
publication. |
