eBird A real-time, online checklist program, eBird has revolutionized the way that the birding community reports and accesses information about birds. Launched in 2002 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, eBird provides rich data sources for basic information on bird abundance and distribution.
Wing Island Banding Station The Wing Island Bird Banding Station has been in operation since September 2000. The station is sponsored by the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, MA and is situated on 80 acres abutting a sprawling salt marsh and 300 acres of conservation land.
capecodbirds.org Created and maintained by club member and expert birder Blair Nikula, capecodbirds.org is a recently created site about birds and birding on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Although some pages are still under construction, there is information on waterfowl surveys (with other surveys to come); photos and details on local vagrants, hybrids, and other oddballs; information on birding on Cape Cod; a bibliography of Cape Cod ornithology; and links to other sites of interest to local birders.  Check back occasionally to see what Blair has added between birding trips.
Sandhill Crane Family Suntree area in Brevard County (East Coast) Florida...

One of the Sand Hill Crane couples recently had an exciting addition to their family. When they built their nest near the water's edge it immediately drew attention of passers by. Soon there were two eggs sitting on top of the nest and the mother on top of them.

Those who were really curious passed by the site every morning and would stop their cars to get out and see if there were any new cranes yet. Many brought cameras of all shapes and sizes and would stand near the water for long periods of time hoping to catch a photo of the hatching.

Robert Grover, a dentist, didn't actually catch the birth but, he sure did capture some fabulous shots of the Momma, Papa and baby (the second egg never hatched). Then he put together a slide show with music that is just beautiful.

Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge In Chatham, at the 'elbow' of the Cape, part of the refuge is accessible from Morris Island, where a walk takes you along a protected shoreline with a view of South Beach, and through pine woodlands.  The islands themselves are accessible by boat, but are well worth the trip.

SEANET In the fall of 2002, Tufts Center for Conservation Medicine (Tufts CCM) / Wildlife Clinic established SEANET. A network of over 60 seabird and ecological health organizations from Canada to New Jersey has been established. ‘Citizen-scientist' beached bird surveys are ongoing, with over 300 volunteers collecting data on seabird mortality during monthly or more frequent beach walks. Data on marine and coastal bird population distribution, ocean contamination, and coastal land use are being collected for a GIS-based repository.
Georgia's Colonial Coast Birding & Nature Festival This is a yearly festival sponsored by Coastal Georgia Audubon, Ogeechee Audubon, GOS (Georgia Ornithological Society), US Fish and Wildlife, Georgia Department of Natural Resources and approved by the state of Georgia.
