Paskamansett Bird Club Meetings Sept. 12th : John Van de Graaff- An outstanding photographer, John will share his photos of migrating birds from Point Pelee, Ontario and surrounding areas. His show will conclude with images from our own Allen's Pond. Oct. 10th : Geoff Dennis- Renowned photographer and birder, Geoff has been capturing memorizing photos of migrant birds on Monhegan Island, Maine for the last eleven years. Come enjoy wonderful glimpses of close to thirty warbler species and other rarities. Nov. 14th : Carol Carson- Join Carol "Krill" Carson for an exciting presentation called "Seabirds, Whales and Sharks, Oh My!" Hear about different species of seabirds that visit our New England coastal waters and learn about other unique types of marine life. Dec. 22nd, Saturday (rain/snow date Sunday, Dec. 23rd). Christmas Bird Count- A club tradition. Come join us as we count birds for the National Audubon Society. Pot luck supper at 6:00 pm at the Friends Meeting house on Horseneck Road. All are welcome. Call Mike Boucher at 508-990-3910 for details. Jan. 9th : Dr. Paul Snyder who will talk about his 2007 trip to Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands. The slide lecture is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries. Feb. 13th : Trevor Lloyd Evens- A dedicated and renowned senior Manomet staff biologist, Trevor has led land bird research and education in many different avian fields. His presentation "32 Years of Changes in Passerine Numbers During Spring and Fall Migrations in Coastal Massachusetts" is sure to be of great interest. Mar. 12th : Mark Lynch and Sheila Carroll- Their show "Birds of the Blackstone Valley" will be of great interest to us "coastal birders". They are currently working on an ornithogeography of the Blackstone National Corridor and Mark was one of the regional editors for the Bird Finding Guide to Western Massachusetts. Apr. 9th : Members Night- Every Birdwatcher has a story to tell, whether it recounts an unforgettable "first" or a recent discovery. Here and now is the best time and place to share your experience with friendly interested listeners. (pictures and slides are helpful but not necessary) Those wishing to volunteer please call 508-990-3910 one week in advance. May 14th : Betty Slade and David Cole- Back by popular demand. Betty & David will share their photographs of Turkey (the country) which will include birds and scenery from the Black Sea, the Georgian border, down through Eastern Turkey to Lake Ven and numerous areas throughout the Mediterranean. |
