Dinner & Birding at Dotty Brown's

May 19, 2008

On Monday, May 19th, 2008, 16 members gathered at Dotty Brown’s seaside home in Gloucester for an evening of birding, fellowship and a stunning moonrise.

The winds not only had birds hunkered down but the birders as well. We watched the surf and heard the wind. Dotty generously provided an assortment of beverages, cheeses, snacks, cakes and the warm hospitality of her home.

Our conversations varied from migration to our next members’ outing. After snacking and enjoying the social time, we watched the rise of the Flower Moon at 8:12pm .

We savored the two, ornithological desserts ~ a penguin shaped, spice cake and a chocolate, rose-breasted hybrid. These were highly decorated and a tradition of the event.

Exiting Eastern Point, a Black-crowned Night-Heron was in flight over Niles Pond.
